FYI For Parents

Well, the flu season has started early this year. We have already had cases showing up in the clinics, so please be aware of the signs. The flu is spread very easily because we tend to try to ignore the signs of being sick and keep going to work and school. Remember, if you or your child has a temperature of 100 degrees or more, stay home! Flu is spread in droplets from the respiratory system like coughs and sneezes. The symptoms of the flu are: headache, fatigue, achy all over, fever, sore throat, and cough. Some people will have nausea and possibly vomiting, but the most common early signs will be a headache, body aches and extreme tiredness. The symptoms come on suddenly and get gradually worse as fever starts. Please, if you or your children have these symptoms, stay home to prevent the spread. Going to the doctor early and getting confirmed as the flu can get you a prescription that can shorten the duration of illness, and getting a flu shot ASAP can help you avoid ever getting sick. The flu will take about a week to run it’s course. If you have any questions, you can get great information from www.cdc.gov , or call me here at the school. Have a safe and healthy winter!
