TARS members will be conducting their first community service project until the end of September. Members will donate supplies for hurricane victims in Texas and/or Florida. Items needed include: cleaning supplies, canned food, baby diapers/food, and personal hygiene supplies.

Northeast Jones junior Lane Chancellor was recently named NEJ's Sertoma Student of the Month for September.  He is the son of Carol Smith of the Strengthford community and Greg Chancellor of Laurel.  Lane selected NEJ Economics and World History Instructor Charles Burks to accompany him to the luncheon!

Year of the Tiger Cookbooks
Our softball team is selling Year of the Tiger cookbooks for $20. We are working hard to raise enough money to be able to continue renovating our softball facility. Please see any softball player, Coach Brashier, or Coach Cavenaugh to make your order! The cookbooks will be here before Thanksgiving! Thanks so much! :)

MS FFA Junior State Officers from NEJ on Super Talk

The three MS FFA Junior State Officers from Northeast Jones were interviewed today during the  Super Talk Radio broadcast from MS Ag in Laurel. Brooke Moore, the daughter of Robby and Misty Moore of the Myrick community, is the 2017-2018 MS FFA Junior State Reporter,  Kendall Myrick, the daughter of Kevin and Alicia Myrick of the Powers community, is the 2017-2018 MS FFA Junior State Vice-President, and Briana Middleton, the daughter of Daniel and Lynn Middleton of the Myrick community is the 2017-2018 MS FFA Junior State Secretary.  Also interviewed was David T. Walters, retired NEJ AgEd Instructor and FFA Advisor.  NEJ AgEd Instructors/FFA Advisors are Dr. Aaron Scammahorn and Logan Dale.

Key Club The first Key Club meeting of the year will be Wednesday, Sept. 6, @7:20 in Mr. Mills’ room.  If you haven’t paid your dues, please turn them in to Mr. Mills.
Middle School FBLA Membership Drive underway NOW. Pick up Membership forms from Mrs. Robinson in 234.
Quiz Bowl Practices will be every Wednesday from 3-5 this semester, starting 8/16 and will continue until the season is over. Quiz bowl will have its first competition on Monday September 18 with finals being at JCJC on November 8. 
Serteens
  • CHANGE***Serteens can bring 5 hygiene products such as soap, shampoo, bath clothes, shaving cream, razors, deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc.  Students can bring canned foods, but hygiene products are what Glory House is very much in need for right now. 
  • All Students planning to join serteens need to pick up a remind handout from outside room 35 (Mrs. Purvis) in building 2.
  • Serteens and yearbook members are selling BBQ tickets for NEJ Alumni ScholarshipsSmokehouse is providing these plates.  Plates are $10.00 and include ¼ chicken, baked beans, potato salad, and bread.  This is for September 8 with pick up will be in the cafeteria from 5-7 p.mYOU MUST HAVE YOUR TICKET TO PICK UP YOUR PLATE.  Please help us with this annual fundraiser for NEJ Alumni Scholarships.  Make checks payable to NEJ Alumni Scholarships or have exact cash.
  • All potential Serteen members and Yearbook members need to pick up their BBQ tickets in Mrs. Purvis’ room in Bldg. 2.  Each person will be given a book of 5 tickets @ 10.00 eachTurn in money to Mrs. Purvis by September 4. If you lose your tickets, you are responsible for the 50.00!  The person you sell them to “keeps” his/her ticket.  He /she must have a ticket to pick up their BBQ plate! No exceptions!
Senior Beta
  • Membership applications are available in Mrs. Stroo’s room or Mrs. Buckhaults’ room.
  • To BECOME a member, you must have a 90 or above in EACH subject at the end of the year last year.
  • Applications, a copy of last year’s final report card, and membership dues are due back to a sponsor by 2:45 on Friday, Sept. 1.
  • Convention deposits are also due on Friday, Sept. 1.
  • Mandatory meeting for members on Thursday, Sept 7 in the PAC at 7:25.  If you do not attend, you will not be in Beta and you will not receive a refund of dues.
TARS
  • Meeting on Thursday 8/27/17, in Mrs. Smith's room (Science Lab #1) at 7:30am.  If you miss the meeting, please stop by and pick up a memo.
  • Membership drive begins 8/9/17. Please pick up an application from Mrs. Smith (Science Lab #1) or the high school office.

  • School day photos for yearbook are Tuesday, August 29, in the PAC.
  •  2017 yearbook pick up times are before school or during 5/6/7 periods any day this week. Do not interrupt Mrs. Rice's English classes 1st thru 4th! Extra books available for $100.00.
  • The NEJ Alumni BBQ is Friday, Sept 8, from 5-7 pick-ups only....$10.00 plates from Smokehouse with half chicken...all proceeds to scholarships! Tickets will be available from Mrs. Thrash and Mrs. Purvis and their SERTEENS and Mrs. Rice's yearbook staff members soon!
  • Our first two shirts of the year are available: they are both short sleeves only, in adult sizes small thru 3XL, and are $15.00 each; the back collar logo this year for all of our shirts is Like No One Else...shirts are in NOW!
