Norris named November Sertoma Student of the Month

Northeast Jones junior Abi Norris, the daughter of Charles Norris and Marie Clingon of the Powers community, was recently named November Sertoma Student of the Month for Northeast Jones.  She selected Mrs. Jessica Stroo, NEJ French and Advanced Placement World History Instructor, to accompany her to the luncheon.  Congratulations Abi!

2017 Quiz Bowl team, more information to follow


Congratulations to the NEJ Academic Quiz Bowl Team for their performance in the Bobcat Math League.  They earned third place in their division and 6th place overall by total points scored.  A special congrats to Gwen Rowzee for being named by JCJC as our team’s Most Valuable Player, and also being named to the All-League Team as one of the top ten individual players in the League.

NEJ Pink Out the Jungle

“Pink Out the Jungle” will be Tuesday, Nov. 14, prior to our soccer games with South....everyone in pink will be in a group photo taken after the launch!

We invite parents, teachers, students, and interested community members to participate....we need help to get these up successfully! Wear Pink....

Tell your friends and family to come! Meet us in the end zone nearest the home concession stand at 4:50 pm.....we will have the lanterns and lighters ready to go! After the launch, we will make the photo...then move to the stands to support our women’s and men’s soccer teams!!!!

We have 3 lanterns that have not been sold....they are $25 each with all proceeds going to the Jones Co Chapter of the American Cancer Society....

Applications for Mr. and Miss NEJ, Mr. and Miss NEJ Junior High, and Senior Who’s Who are now available in the NEJ High School Media Center. Applications must be turned in to Ms. Jordan in the high school media center no later than 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 17, 2017. Follow the instructions on the application! Election will be held November 30th and December 1st. All English classes will have a scheduled time in a computer lab to vote during this two day period.
2017 NEJ Beauty Pageant
Forms & Information
Beauty Pageant forms are now available in the NEJ High School Media Center and the NEJ Middle School Office. Deadline to turn in pageant forms is 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 8, 2017. The 2017 NEJ Beauty & Beau Pageant will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. in the NEJ Performing Arts Center.


STEM Paper Tower Engineering Design Contest

Students from Ms. Bolivar's STEM classess competed in an Engineering Design Contest where they were given one piece of paper and a foot of tape and instructed to build the tallest tower possible. Our softball team is selling Year of the Tiger cookbooks for $20. We are working hard to raise enough money to be able to continue renovating our softball facility. Softball Our softball team is selling Year of the Tiger cookbooks for $20. We are working hard to raise enough money to be able to continue renovating our softball facility. Please see any softball player, Coach Brashier, or Coach Cavenaugh to make your order! The cookbooks will be here before Thanksgiving! Thanks so much! :)

  • Fall blood drive is Nov. 1. Anyone 16 or older who is interested in donating needs to see Deidra Bourg for information. Seniors who donate twice this school year will be recognized on Class Night with a red cord and certificate. This drive is only open to NEJ students, faculty, staff, and administration. Anyone else who wishes to donate may contact United Blood Services at 877-827-4376.
TARS
  • Newly elected TARS Officers for the 2017-2018 year include:
  • Caleb Lee (President),  Jacob Rogers (Vice-President), Lane Chancellor (Secretary),  Dillon Widdershoven (Treasurer), Shai Moore (Reporter), Dylan Gieger (Parliamentarian) and Cambry Holifield (9th grade Representative)
  • TARS members will be conducting their first community service project until the end of September. Members will donate supplies for hurricane victims in Texas and/or Florida.
  • Items needed include: cleaning supplies, canned food, baby diapers/food, and personal hygiene supplies.  Members should bring the supplies to Mrs. Smith's room and make sure she documents your donation.
  • Reminder: Seniors must participate in order to be eligible to receive cords for graduation.
