Student Assessment/Accountability

The Student Assessment department oversees and facilitates the administration of the statewide assessment program. The statewide assessment program includes the Mississippi Assessment Program for math and ELA (MAP and MAP-A), the Subject Area Testing Program for science and social studies (SATP2), the Mississippi Science Test for grades 5 and 8 (MST2), the ACT for all juniors, the Mississippi K-3 Assessment Support System (MKAS2),  and LAS Links, the English Language Proficiency Test.

In addition to the high stakes tests, the MS CPAS2 Assessment for vocational students and the NAEP Assessment are administered to students.  Additionally, the departments of curriculum and assessment conduct analysis of test data and its effect on district and school accreditation and to ensure the district follows the regulations of the Every Child Succeeds Act (ESSA) mandates.  To best serve student learning, assessment must be integrated with curriculum and instruction.

State test scores and student growth from year to year determine the Accountability ratings of the district and the schools.  This department disseminates information on test scores and coordinates appeals for each component of the Mississippi Public Accountability System.
