Updates and Information About COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

Dear Parents and Students,

Our number one goal is the health and safety of all students, parents, faculty, and staff. That being the case, you are aware that the Jones County School District heeded the call of the Governor's executive order 1460 to close all Mississippi public schools until April 17, 2020. On Wednesday, March 25, 2020, the Jones County School District Board met and approved the JCSD Pandemic Response Plan.

The goal of this plan is for the school district to provide as many essential services to the community by supporting the learning needs of the children of Jones County as possible while also maintaining the CDC guidelines for response to the serious crisis created by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic. As a result, the school district has placed numerous resources on the school district website to provide multiple avenues for the enrichment of student learning and to provide support for parents. Though there is no substitute for direct in-person access to a highly effective teacher, these resources will allow students to enrich the great learning they have already received across the school year. With opportunities to explore topics of personal interest, students should be able to build fluency in important knowledge and skills while also deepening their learning. Parents should see their student's teacher and counselor's email address listed on the school district website so that they can correspond with the faculty member directly for support during normal school hours which will be while school sites are open. Instructional staff at the schools are on call and can be engaged through multiple means via email, phone, Remind101, Peach-Jar, and various other innovative electronic means. Due to CDC guidelines, no visitors will be allowed to enter school buildings and parents will need to call the schools for assistance. If for some reason parents and/or students are unable to access the school district website (, then they should simply call their child's school during the hours of 9:00 am and 1:00 pm, and report this issue by leaving their name, phone number, and email address so that it can be forwarded to the appropriate staff for follow-up.

Please make sure to continue to check back on the school district website to see additional updates as they become available. We look forward to supporting our students, parents, and our community through the duration of this crisis. Thank you for allowing us to serve your children.
